Vicious Circle Series: Ringworm - (site-specific video installation)
By using the tag Hampton & Co and posing as a backstreet firm with the status of a rag & bone trader, Michael Hampton aims to mock the grandiloquent titling of institutional exhibitions with corporate pretensions. Invited to put on a solo exhibition at TENSION, the artist subverts and blurs the boundary of a conventional one-person show by moonlighting as an amateur curator, to augment his own book art sculptures with bespoke contributions from Lee Holden and Christina Mitrentse; along with guest appearances at the closing event from ABC Co-operative and N&B Press.

For The Mirror at Night twenty- one artists have been invited to respond to the final stanza of Mallarme’s notoriously elusive poem Ses purs ongles tres haut dediant leur onyx (1887), and have been given, together with a copy of the original French sonnet, seven different English translations of the relevant three lines. Sick Monday presents an exhibition of eighteen newly commissioned short videos and posters, from a series of three screening programmes presented in 2018. The exhibition is open with a Blu-ray/ publication and poster launch, plus newly commissioned text by horror film scholar, Dr Lindsay Hallam.
